A growing number of ASCs are offering patients a self-pay option. A self-pay program, when set up and managed effectively, can help surgery centers bring in more patient volume and be an attractive payment option for patients who wish to avoid using their insurance. But the decision to start a self-pay program should not be taken lightly. Mistakes and oversights can lead to loss of revenue and dissatisfied patients and surgeons. Learn the key components of a successful self-pay program, including how to best determine prices; develop policies; collect from patients; educate patients, surgeons, and staff; and market the program.

This program has been approved for 1.0 hours of AEU credit in the Financial area by BASC Provider #1125.
